Then select what you want (CMD+A) and hit the cut button. I've always found it important to press and hold the Origin button on the GX-24 with the blade in the bottom left corner of the piece to cut. Place the art in the bottom left corner of the artboard. I always load the vinyl to be cut, grab the measurements the GX-24 gives after it settles, and setup a new document in AI to match. You should get a little preview in the tool window. When you send things to the cutter from Illustrator remember that only the selected items in your art will be cut. When the plug-in is installed it shows up as a tool window in AI.

I only have experience cutting directly out of the Illustrator plug-in.

If you are saying that you had no issue with Mountain Lion and CS6 with the CS6 plugin then I may see a Ai upgrade in my future. There is no freaking way I'm installing Win 7 and sourcing Ai CS6 for Win to try and have a better time.

Why would a $1800 cutter be this difficult out of the box for a Mac User? As it is it seems I have to do crop marks by a guessing game for positions then when I hit the print icon nothing happens.then I'm outside of Ai CS3 pressing Cut with the CutStudioOutputX app.there's got to be something I'm missing. I would love it if I could just open a Ai CS3 with art I've already made, change the art board size, double check my art is within cut range and just hit 'cut'. Have I not read proper instructions yet? I'll guess I haven't read enough or found a better YouTube instructional video yet. Shouldn't there be a easier way? Am I missing something here? It seems to me in my short 24hr window of owning this unit that I also shouldn't be guessing the sizing for crop position. If we set the art board in Illustrator to be the same size as the vinyl we are about to cut and our cut/art is set within the cutting range. I don't think it should be a guessing game. What confuses me is setting crop marks with the plug in. It was a test for how thin I could cut/weed from that thin cheap test sheet.

I was able to successfully ruin the test vinyl with cuts that were too thin for easy weeding and further use. I'm using OS X 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion) and Adobe Illustrator CS3 with the CS3 Plug-in.
